Personal Web Sites for Students
Welcome to students.ship.edu! Students.ship.edu is the new web server where Shippensburg University Students may create personal websites. The web server platform is Microsoft Internet Information Server. Students who are creating personal websites now have the ability to save their website files directly to a folder on on-campus lab workstations. In addition, students may use a simple drag-and-drop FTP interface through Internet Explorer to save their website files from workstations located off-campus or in Residence Halls.
Website Creation Instructions:
- Using on-campus lab workstations
- Save your website files in your My Documents folder in the folder named My Website
- Using workstations off-campus and in Residence Halls
- Use Internet Explorer to access ftp://stufiles.ship.edu
- If you are using Internet Explorer 7, click on Page and Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer
- Login with your SU email address and password
- Save your files in the My Website folder
- You may also use FTP or a web publishing utility, such as Dreamweaver to create or modify your website files
- FTP server hostname: stufiles.ship.edu
- Directory: My Website
- Use your SU email address and password
- Name your first website file: default.htm
This is the file that will be displayed when your website is accessed.
Other valid default content page names are: default.htm, index.htm, default.asp, and default.aspx
- Your website will be accessible using a URL such as the following:
- http://students.ship.edu/userid
(userid is your SU email userid)
- http://students.ship.edu/userid
